HEATING & AC UNIT INSTALLATION NEW REGULATIONS
Starting January 1st, 2023, there will be a new efficiency standard from the Department of Energy (DOE) on air conditioning and heat pumps throughout the US. The new policies will minimize the amount of energy being used from your system. Most HVAC manufacturers will be required to create central AC and heat pumps with the 2023 standards.
Additional Highlights of the New Regulations
- Regional SEER ratings for cooling systems will increase by 1 SEER
- HVAC systems will have new metric standards
- Heating efficiency will increase from 8.2 HSPF to 8.8 HSPF
- Furnace rating standards will be 81% AFUE for all three regions
- Packaged systems must meet new metric standards
