What's the difference between tankless and a traditional tank water heater?
Tankless Water Heaters heat water directly without the use of a storage tank. When a hot water tap is turned on, cold water travels through a pipe into the unit. Either a gas burner or an electric element heats the water. Many homeowners who select a tankless do so because it delivers a constant supply of hot water. Another perk of a tankless is that it typically takes up significantly reduced space than traditional tank water heaters.
Why is my water still cold when I turn on the tap, even if I have a tankless?
A tankless system promises constant hot water. The cold water in the line before it's turned on still has to travel from the pipe to the faucet. A circulator can be installed for homes that wish to have immediate hot water out of the tap.
Tank Water Heaters are the most common way to heat water in the United States. Tank water heaters continue to heat water even when they are not in use. They can use gas or electricity, and some offer a hybrid heat pump system. Tanks normally store between 20-80 gallons of water and they can be installed most commonly in garages and closets.
